Ask An Author Week #2: Paty Jager

Question: If you could travel back in time for a month long vacation, which Era would you visit and why?

Paty Jager: It would be the 1800's in the West. It's what I write because I love the wildness, the struggles, and that people had to rely on themselves to survive.

Award-winning author, Paty Jager, has a third book in the Halsey brother series, Miner in Petticoats, available June 12, 2009. Ethan Halsey clashes with Aileen Miller, a widow, who refuses to part with the land he needs. As they battle, their lives become enmeshed and their hearts collide.

I'll tell you I'd love to go with you. But the horseback riding would kill me now.
But if I could be younger, I'd be there in a flash!

    Mary,
I rode very little last year, but I'm hoping to get more riding in this year and I'm sure it will be struggle to get in the saddle the first few times!

    Thanks for stopping by!

Can't dispute that as I was born in Wyoming and still there.

If you could meet a historical figure who would it be and why?

    Starryann,

The historical figure I'd like to meet is Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce. I grew up in their beloved Wallowa Valley and would love to hear his side of how things happened and his true feelings toward the whiteman. I've read many accounts from various authors about his trying to keep peace. It makes me wonder what he truly thought of these people coming in and taking over ground they had lived on for hundreds of years, claiming they owned it with a piece of paper.

I agree with you on the going back to the 1800's in the West. I like the idea of open places and the wildness that exist at that time. I have always pictured myself riding in an open place.

Becky, I agree with the wide open spaces. And I love a challenge and nothing is more challenging than trying to stay alive!
